Islefield, a.k.a. Almondbury is located at Conestoga Rd. & Ithan Ave. & Mill Rd. in Rosemont, formerly Whitehall. Original owner -- Herbert S. Darlington, a retailer & real estate owner. Subsequent owners include George Brooke, (m. Lucille Carter Polk in 1926), Haverford House (Nursing), Vanguard School, and the American Missionary Fellowship in 1973. Plot size -- 28 1/2 acres. Original architect -- Horace Trumbauer in 1911. Landscaping by Oglesby Paul, Known as Haverford Hall (1950). Garage demolished.
