Typed on a piece of paper enclosed in the plastic cover: "The Wayne Gazette -- August 3, 1872 / Bloomingdale Avenue / Mr. Martin and Family were the first residents on this new and beautiful Avenue. The Family / occupy the first house on the west side of the / Avenue above the Lancaster Pike. / Mr. Martin occupies a position on the Penna. / R.R., is a most worthy and excellent young / man, and it affords us great pleasure to / extend to him and his family a hearty welcome / to Louella."

As captioned in the July 1, 1955 "Your Town & My Town":

"Former home of the Charles T. Mathers, at the northwest corner of Bloomingdale and West Lancaster avenues, recently sold to the Bell Telephone Company."
